About the AuthorNicco Schaal reflects on a fascinating life full of travel and exploration across some of the world’s most stunning and captivating destinations.Born in Berlin, Germany, he grew up during the era of the Berlin Wall, which may have inspired his early desire to see the world. Before reaching legal age, he embarked on his first adventure—working for a major German seafood company in Cuxhaven, where he went to sea as a young fisherman aboard Nordsee vessels. Life on the rough North Sea soon convinced him that his true calling lay elsewhere.Returning to Germany, Nicco worked as a waiter and later took the opportunity to live in southern France, where he fully immersed himself in the language and culture. What began as a short visit turned into four years of unforgettable experiences, including work in Paris, Tunisia, and Martinique with Club Med.His next significant chapter began in the United States, where he spent eight years in New York City, initially working in finance and later managing top restaurants. A chance meeting introduced him to the tourism industry, where he built a long and rewarding career as a tour director, guiding groups across the U.S., Canada, and the Bahamas.Later, Nicco moved to Florida, became a U.S. citizen, spent time in Hawaii, and eventually settled in Orlando before returning to Germany in 2001. He continued working in the hospitality industry, advising clients on global destinations, while employed by an international hotel reservation conglomerate.Now an author, Nicco channels his lifelong passion for travel into his writing.
